My best friend and photographer, Isaac Ruiz, and I have been discussing on getting together to do close up beauty shots for quite some time however, finding a time that worked with our schedules, while it seemed impossible we finally made it happen.
Having developed an obsession for cosmetics at an early age, I was able to assist and contribute to the project that Isaac had in mind, editorial type beauty shots with colorful makeup. While head shots might seem simple and easy to capture, I found them to be the most difficult, not only because having a camera inches from your face can make you extremely self conscious but because a beauty shot requires everything to be in place–perfect makeup, pose, and hair. Since this was a test shoot, Isaac and I didn’t have an assistant or hairstylist, so we had to get creative with the placement of reflectors as well as the styling of my own hair, which luckily is long enough that I was able to tie a knot and make a perfect little bun =).
Below are some pictures from last week’s shoot. The first photo was one of our favorites, from the capture to the pose, makeup, and shellac-ed nails =). Overall, we felt that it was one of our stronger images.
